July 20th. Can we already say that the guided tours are booming!? Just when I thought I was going to take Sunday off to rest, after a week full of ornithological activities, the couple from Aruba appears, Frank and Silvia. He is of Surinamese origin and she is Mexican. As I don't deny opportunities to be in the field, off we went to Serra dos Órgãos, birding in the upper and lower parts of the National Park and also in the Vale da Revolta headquarters of the Três Picos State Park. Above, they observe a Spot-billed Toucanet (Selenidera maculirostris) on the PARNASO suspended trail, at its headquarters in Teresópolis.
Hooded Berryeater (Carpornis cucullata)
There was also a Hooded Berryeater (Carpornis cucullata) that posed on a branch high above the trail and a couple of Green-throated Euphonia (Euphonia chalybea), a species that I have never recorded before in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Yellow-backed Tanager (Hemithraupis flavicollis)
The tour ended in the afternoon at the Guapimirim headquarters of the Park, where we observed some species typical of the lower slopes of the Atlantic Forest. Highlights included Yellow-backed Tanager (Hemithraupis flavicollis), Yellow-throated Woodpecker (Piculus flavigula) and Streak-capped Antwren (Terenura maculata), which appeared well below the treetops.
