The year 2025 began with two different guided tours at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, between the 18th and 21st of January.
On the 18th I had the pleasure of guiding the Carter family, from South Africa. They were enjoying a trip through South America and wanted to see some of the Botanical Garden birds with me. Highlights of this pleasant sunny day were the Green-headed Tanager (Tangara seledon) and Channel-billed Toucans, which put on a show, as they always do.

On the 21st I returned to the Botanical to guide the friendly birdwatcher couple from the U.K., Stephen and Jen. Despite the extremely hot weather on the day, we managed to see the Garden's "big three": Rusty-margined Guan (Penelope superciliaris), Slaty-breasted Wood-Rail (Aramides saracura), and of course the Channel-billed Toucan (Ramphastos vitellinus). There was also an extra: Tropical Warblers (Setophaga pitiayumi) right under the tree canopy, which made Steve very happy.

Thank you to my new friends for the pleasant company and for booking my guide services through my website.
